Splendid Pair of
Arts and Crafts Era Brass Candleholders
Up for offer are these very collectable and honestly simple Arts and Crafts Era brass candlesticks in the Benson style. The pair are slender columns with spindled centres and flaring, reeded bases. The tops have lovely arrow-point crenellations that give them an English church/castle look. With no obvious marks, they exhibit patina and some verdigris; along with the remnants of wax drippings on one. The bases screw apart.
Size: 6" (15.2cm) high x 3 1/8" (8cm) in diameter.
Weight: Heavy. 522 grams before parceling. Marks/stamps: No obvious marks.
Condition: Used antiques. Patinized brass with possible copper. Two deep scratch marks on one stick. Wax on the other. Dark red-brown material underneath and inside holders. Slight greenish verdigris under bowls. The pair are straight; showing no bends or cracks. Very nice! Missing their vaseline glass shades or clear glass hurricanes. (Inside dimensions: 5.9cm)
