A REMARKABLE, HANDMADE INSTRUMENT! Here for your examination is this absolutely gorgeous
rare old American violin bearing its original maker’s label
by Polish immigrant violinmaker from Detroit, Kornil Tarasuk
to be an individual model after Guarnerius circa 1921.
Listen to it being played in the video posted below.

(To hear these samples, double-click the “play” arrow…)
This video clip is shot on my inexpensive Casio digital camera in video
mode. There is absolutely no enhancement of the sound whatsoever
…no special microphones, no computer alteration, no studio effects.
The piece being played in the video is from Bach’s Toccata and
Fugue. The violinist welcomes your comments. Enjoy the auction!
This is a rather special handmade violin made of old American spalted
maple or perhaps, according to our local shop, rare American
chestnut. The wood selection and carving are exceptional.
It has a lovely old patina that is the result of 90 plus
years of play and that only “father time” can produce.
The color has mellowed to a golden honey color.
This is a special instrument with powerful sound
…suitable for a soloist, a concertmaster,
or a strong ensemble player.
MAKER’S LABELLabel Reads:
Ditroit, Mich 1921
Kornil Tarasuk
(all handwritten)
Its best feature in my opinion is its beautiful voice…
sonorous basses, and sweet, soaring bright trebles. Its
a joy to play and hear…and a a beautiful instrument.
This is fantastic violin and as usual, I have included
a video sound sample (above) so that you
can judge this violin for yourself.
This is a beautifully carved instrument, with a beautifully
carved scroll, and a exception highly arched body
which likely accounts for the big, warm, sonorous tone.

A 4/4 violin in excellent vintage condition; ready to play. No cracks,
no hairlines…there are no sound post cracks; no cracks to the
scroll or neck and no open seams. Everything is tight and solid.
This is an estate instrument so naturally, there is some wear…very
minor scuffs, dings as you would expect from an instrument of this
age (and which, in my opinion adds wonderful character to an
antique violin). I’d recommend that you string it and have
it set up to your liking. Its a gorgeous violin!
Exceptional antique violins of this age and in this fine state
of preservation are becoming more and more difficult to acquire

violin teachers and private collectors. Listen to the sound
sample; if you’re looking for a special instrument that
has stood the test of time, this one may be for you.
