Very good condition hickory wooden
shafted American patented one piece driver made by B.G.I. This whole club is made out of a single piece
of wood. These are quite hard to find in
nice condition as many broke during use.
Vintage is circa 1900; this is most likely an 1890’s club. Clear BGI stamps along with their ‘Lion’
cleekmark. This one-piece design was
originally patented by John Duncan Dunn I believe. No cracks to the head, neck, or shaft areas.
There is a very small nick on the top line out near the toe and the slip plate
is mushed in some on the heel side (see pictures). Both of these imperfections aren’t bad by any
means. There are no nicks or missing
pieces to the gutta percha slip plate, it is simply pushed inward on the heel
side. Leather fancy face insert remains tight and
flush with its original 5 hob nails. Original
wooden shaft is without chips or cracks and has just a slight bend. Total club length is 43 5/8 inches. Old
period intact leather wrap grip is nice and over fat underlisting and likely
the original. Leather isn’t dry. Please see my other wood shafted and vintage
collectable golf clubs. Some are quite rare. All without reserve. THANKS!
