A beautiful silver snuff box made by George Nathan and Ridley Hayes. Hallmarked for Chester 1904-5. Nathan and Hayes, of Icknield Street and Howard Street Birmingham and Hatton Garden London, worked together from 1895-1915 (registered in 1897). The RH in the hallmark is rather flat from bad stamping but can still just about be seen.
The box measures approximately 2.1/2 x 1.1/2 inches and weighs approximately 40 grams.
Condition is extremely good; the repousse work on the lid is high and does not appear to have any flattened areas.
The lid snaps firmly shut and fits tightly as it should. Hinge is still very good.
Minor wear marks to the base are commensurate with age.
Offered in extremely good and uncleaned condition.
