Antique Victorian period Whim Mantel Clock by Ansonia.
Dark royal blue porcelain case with winged Dolphins on the corners.
Floral decoration on the front and sides & top with gold trim highlights.
Back of case marked “WHIM”. I also see the side of the case impressed “WHIM”
Dial marked “Manufactured by the Ansonia New York United States of America”
Movement marked “Ansonia Clock Co New York”
Movement is an 8-day time and strike.
Measures 11″W x 11″H.
Condition
Very good. Attic stored for years.
Case could use some cleaning, has not for years
and is why the gold gilding is bright and intact.
Gold trim and floral decoration is excellent.
Case has 2 tight hairlines to the back of the case (see photos).
Original movement. Glass, bezel are fine (hinge is excellent).
No hairlines to the porcelain dial.
I wound it up and it will run and strike but will need cleaning and adjusting.
As with all mechanical items, it is being sold “As Is”.
White glare to the high points is from my photo lighting.
