Antique Painting on
Porcelain – Angel Playing Mandolin

Up for bids is a
wonderful antique painting on porcelain depicting an angelic beauty playing a
mandolin. The beautifully painted plaque is stamped on the reverse ?107.?  I suspect that this is a German plaque, as it
is reminiscent of the quality and style one sees in such makers as KPM,
Hutschenreuther, etc.  It is unsigned but
displays spectacular detail throughout. The face and wings are delicately painted
with the finest of brushstrokes. I cannot state enough how beautiful this piece
is!  The images fall far short of doing
it justice, as they are a bit too ?contrasty.?
For example, her robe appears a bit too washed out and white in the
images, while in person it is richly colored and the shadows of the folds,
etc., are very distinct.  The plaque is
fresh from an estate and is offered just as it was found:  unframed. The correct gold frame could really
make this piece pop! It measures 5 ¾ inches by 4 inches. There are a few small
scratches in the upper part of the plaque, in the background. This does not in
any way take away from the impact of this piece, and when it is viewed in
person they do not stand out as they do in the photos. Please look at the
larger images for the details!

We also have a porcelain
plaque of a penitent monk signed Wagner!
Check out our other listings to see this gorgeous piece!  We are always glad to combine multiple
auction ?wins? to the same bidder in order to save you money on shipping!

This item would make
a fine addition to any collection of fine German and/or Limoges hand painted
plaques (or would make a perfect gift for that mandolin player or collector in
your life!).

Ships at a 2 pound
rate. Please note that, in order to help offset our ever-increasing costs of
shipping insurance and packing materials, we add a nominal handling charge of $1.25
to domestic shipments.  The handling
charge on international shipments is $1.50, due to higher insurance costs.  Your understanding is greatly appreciated, as
we want all items to reach their destination unscathed, but fully covered in
the rare event of mishandling.
