If this was complete and undamaged, it would no doubt be in a museum. The elderly lady that I got it from said that she had inherited it from an Uncle who was 92 when he died. She remembered playing with it as a child,at which time it had a clothed figure with a paddle,harpoon,and other accessories. She went on to say that her Uncle had told her that he acquired it as a youth “Up North”. It measures 22″ long by 2-5/8″ at the widest by about 1-5/16″ at the deepest. The covering is tight as a drum. The wooden strip is pegged on. It looks to have been built to scale. As for the missing wood strip and the punctures she said her Uncles little dog had gotten hold of it. It is truly a work of art and I hate to part with it!
