18th Century Forged Iron Bearded Axe
Great example of a bearded axe head, early to mid 18th century, circa 1740-1760.

Axes such as this were used for a variety of purposes, both chopping and when held properly in ones hand they could have been drawn towards the user acting as a shave.
The design capitalized on the maximum length of a blade with a lighter form by design.
Measures just under 7" down the blade.
