ANTIQUE VINTAGE CALCULATOR THE MARCHANT 1911 1916 OAKLAND CALIF. NO 0392 MACHINE

ANTIQUE

We
have for your viewing and bidding pleasure an antique and/or vintage
calculating machine. On a metal tag on the front left of the machine
it has The Marchant MANUFACTURED BY MARCHANT CALCULATING MACHINE CO.
Inc. OAKLAND CAL. PATENTED JUNE 6, 1911 FEB. 22 1916. The machine
appears to be in functioning condition. We do not personally know how
you run it. You can move the arrows to different numbers. The wood
knob pulls out on the crank lever and you turn it, etc.. Then it does
the calculations, etc.. The machine sets on a wood platform. There is
a label on the left side that has 6 DONT’S with instructions on what
NOT to do. The label has raised up a little bit and a little piece is
missing off of the left top edge. On the front top center some of the
paint has chipped off of the brass. On the back of the calculator it
is stamped NO 0392. We believe this to be the serial number and this
is a low numbered issue. The calculator comes with a metal case for a
cover that has been covered with a canvas type cloth. Originally the
cover snapped in place with a leather strap on each side of the
front. The right strap is missing. The case also shows wear and
rubbing. With the cover in place it weighs almost 15 ½ lbs.. Nice
nostalgic item to set around in an office setting. The unit is almost
100 years old and we are listing it at a no reserve selling price.
So, thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
