ANTIQUE GORHAM ART NOUVEAU STERLING SILVER CUT GLASS POWDER ROUGE JAR ~ RETAILED BY J.E. CALDWELL
Antique Gorham Art Nouveau Sterling Silver Cut Glass Powder Jar, Rouge Pot, Retailed by J.E. Caldwell. Beautiful little cut glass powder / rouge cream jar with an Art Nouveau Style sterling silver lid. Lid has scrolling and leaf design with a center cartouche area that is engraved with very scripted initials that look like MOS? The glass is a heavy cut zipper edge design with a star burst bottom. Side edge of lid is marked Sterling along with the Gorham maker’s mark, D381 and J.E. Caldwell the retailer.
The jar measures 2″ wide by 2 1/4″ high. The cut glass and sterling lid are in good condition. Glass is clean & clear. It does have some tiny flea bite chips on the cut edge and some slight scratches on the bottom surface. It also has a nice flake chip on the outer rim of the top area. Does not show when the lid is on the jar. The sterling lid has that nice old aged patina where the depressed areas are darkened to really show off the design. The lid has a few small dings on the side edge that I show in the photo. Nothing too large or major. No wear thru holes and the lid appears to be original to the jar as it is a nice tight fit. Lid weighs .8 ounces on my postage scale. Very nice for any vanity table or collection! Starts low with no reserve!
