ANTIQUE FARM ENGINE HIT AND MISS ENGINE COLLECTION

ANTIQUE FARM ENGINE HIT AND MISS ENGINE COLLECTION

ANTIQUE

Up for bid
is my 32 year, lifelong collection of farm engines. There are 17 engines bolted
to this trailer including 3 ‘pony’ Briggs engines. Most of these engines will
start right up and run all day. None of these engines have been restored. The
weight of this collection is 7,500 pounds with trailer. Some of them require
light repairs to get them perfect. They are all mounted on a 10,000 pound
capacity custom built trailer. Most of them have been converted to run from a
central gas tank so I could run them all day at shows. Twelve of these engines
run well. The Metz engine ran for years and is apart for bearings. The 5 HP
Maynard needs a rocker and support post. All of the engines that run have been
excessively greased and oiled all these years. The trailer has a steel control
box that has voltage meters and switching for several purposes. The box also
contains a computer power supply and Variac for charging the trailer batteries.
Four of the engines are run from a Model T coil box and coils. The trailer
wheels and tires are great. I have four good spare tires on rims for the
trailer. It has 4 wheel electric brakes and you can drive this rig home from Massachusetts
to California if you wish. I have many parts for these engines as well. You
will receive a tub of old brass oilers, Chevy carburetors, ignition linkage
parts, many spare plugs, Wico magneto parts and a whole lot more! The
collection is to be sold as one lot and one lot only. Do not forget engine guys, you can pool
your money to bid with the big boys here!  Please see the attached Google Images link for all photos in detail.  Good luck bidding and thanks for
looking.

WE START WITH THE LEFT SIDE OF THE TRAILER, FRONT TO BACK………………………

1920’S DELCO 750 WATT, 32 VOLT
GENERATOR.

This engine is complete and runs. It
is wired to electric start on the trailer using 24 volts. It does have low
compression. Will run all day with a clean plug. The generator will require 3,
12 volt batteries to generate.

1914 METZ FRICTION DRIVE MOTOR CAR
ENGINE.

This engine came from a 1914 Metz
friction drive motor car. It has Model T ford carburetor, manifolds, connecting
rod and valves.  The magneto is hot. The
valves hold compression. The carburetor is perfect. The oil pump is there but
loose. Has a large, aluminum crankcase with a steel dipper pan. I ran it
without the dipper pan and with matching oil level. I have several plastic bins
of parts for this engine including many pistons, good connecting rods and the
original starting crank and supports. The engine and car were made in Waltham,
Mass.

192O’S JUMBO MAKE AND BREAK – THROTTLE GOVERNED
3-1/2 HORSEPOWER FARM KEROSENE ENGINE.

This is one heavy engine! I use a
small Briggs to start it because the flywheels are so heavy. The heavy
flywheels and the sensitive governor make me think it was used for electric
lighting. The compression is excellent. The magneto needs charging so I run it
on battery and coil. It has a kerosene gas tank in the sub-base. The engine
shows very little wear.

1912 MAYNARD MAKE AND BREAK HIT AND
MISS 5 HORSEPOWER FARM ENGINE.

This engine does not run. It is
missing the exhaust rocker and the rocker mount. I have the magneto apart for
new insulation. I installed new rings. It is all there and will run with the
magneto assembled and a rocker installed. This engine also shows very little
wear.

1918 LANSING MAKE AND BREAK HIT AND
MISS 2-1/2 HORSEPOWER CEMENT MIXER ENGINE.

This engine starts easily and runs
all day. I am running the magneto on battery as the magneto magnet is missing.
It is one of my best runners. Very quiet.

1915 STOVER K-MODEL MAKE AND BREAK
HIT AND MISS 2 HORSEPOWER FARM ENGINE.

This engine starts easily and runs
all day. It does have two cracked flywheel spokes. The run out is .020inches. I
have run the engine this way for 32 years. The gas tank is very nice and the
rest of the engine is in very good condition.

1920’S FULLER AND JOHNSON 2-1/2 SPARK
PLUG HIT AND MISS FARM ENGINE.

This engine starts easily and runs
all day. Another great smaller engine. The Wico (rebuilt) went weak. I charge
the magneto with a huge resistor and battery current. Also runs very quiet.

1930’S INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER 2-1/2
HORSEPOWER CEMENT MIXER ENGINE.

This engine starts easily and runs
all day. This is a classic. It responds to the governor like a motorcycle
throttle. It does not smoke or use oil. I have the valves open for looks and
for oiling. You can put the cover back on.

WE CONTINUE WITH THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE TRAILER, FRONT TO
BACK…………

1920’S 120 VOLT DC TO AC 1 KILOWATT MOTOR-GENERATOR.

This motor generator runs all the
lights, battery chargers and my camp from the National generator. I needed
alternating current for most of the trailer so I installed this rotary
convertor

1923 CHEVROLET OPEN CONE CLUTCH, OPEN
ROCKER SHAFT AUTOMOBILE ENGINE.

This engine starts easily and runs
all day. I do not have the oil pump so I run the oil level up to the connecting
rod dippers. It does smoke but installing an oil pump and using a proper oil
level will fix that. The radiator holds water. The engine is started using a
mounted Briggs motor belted to the flywheel. Compression is very good and the
lower end is quiet. This engine is a real crowd pleaser!

1920’S UNIVERSAL TWO CYLINDER DIRECT
CURRENT GENERATOR.

This engine starts easily and runs
all day and is the power source for all the electricity used in the trailer and
the camp. It has great oil pressure, runs quieter than a Honda generator and is
completely reliable.

1920’S GILSON GOES LIKE SIXTY AIR
COOLED 3 HORSEPOWER SPARK PLUG HIT AND MISS FARM ENGINE.

This engine is known throughout the
New England engine community as the “bent flywheel engine”. It has run for over
30 years with one flywheel bent. Nobody will guarantee that the crank will not
break during repairs so I just run it. I check the main bearings all the time
for safety. It also has two small cracks at the top rear of the cylinder. I run
it on battery and MODEL T coil with the timer. The fan is missing but the
engine never gets hot at the slow speeds that I run it.

1920’S FAIRBANKS MORSE 3-1/2
HORSEPOWER KEROSENE SPARK PLUG THROTTLE GOVERNED FARM ENGINE.

This engine
starts easily and runs all day. I run it on a battery and coil with a timer. I
do have the magneto for this engine. This is a common engine but it has a very
sweet thump-thump-thump sound

1920’S FULLER AND JOHNSON 2-1/2 HORSEPOWER
SPARK PLUG HIT AND MISS FARM ENGINE.

This engine starts easily and runs
all day. It has a major hopper freeze crack about 3 inches long. It has run for
30 years with a silicone repair. I rebuilt the magneto but it could use a
charge again. The rest of the engine is mechanically excellent. Does not miss a
beat.

1924 JACOBSON FOUR-ACRE TWO-CYCLE
REEL MOWER.

Also called the beast!! I have cut
grass with this engine and believe me, you do not drive it, it drives you. Has
great compression, starts easily using a pony motor. (No room to use the
crank.) I have the cooling shrouds for this engine. I liked it better without
them.
