You’ll not find much of Ed Stellmacher’s pottery in brown. You won’t find a whole lot of it in ANY color, really. He was only in business for seven years: 1905 – 1912. We’ll talk about that in a minute.

It is 5 ¼” tall and a little under 5” in diameter at the belly.

The color is actually chocolaty brown; that creamy dark chocolate that the little storefront candy maker on the Grand Meir in Antwerp displays in the window.

CONDITION = “As new” – There are no chips, cracks, scuffs, but there is the little glaze skip as seen above. That is how it came out of Ed’s kiln.

Old man Eduard Stellmacher, one of the guys who started Reissner, Stellmacher & Kessel Amphora, apparently got ticked off at Reissner and/or Kessel because, in 1905, he lit out and started up his own company, which he called, “Stellmacher Company,” not the most creative name in the world, but that’s what he called it.

He went belly-up in 1912, and I’m guessing it was because of that name. They’d still be in business had he called it, “The Snazzy-Jazzy Pottery Company of Turn-Teplitz,” or something like that. Anyway, I guess RS&K, the original company, got sideways with several of their people in 1905, the same year Paul Dachsel left. Talk about a loss!

The rest of the description with more pictures continues below this memo about my two “Prime Directives:”

First: I never, under any circumstances, use a reserve, and everything starts at $9, sometimes even less. I never end auctions early.

Second: I rarely clean, repair, or otherwise monkey around with anything. Normally I push enough dust aside to note any flaws, but if I discovered it in some dusty attic, you can look forward to a little dust on it when it gets to your house. If it has a flaw or a wart, I’ll tell you about it.
So rest easy and have some fun. Why not place a little tiny bid right now so’s you don’t forget about it later.

The back is handy for those days when you simply can’t stand to look at another bratty kid.

The blue rim is a nice touch. My guess is that you’ll love it. If you don’t, that’d be weird, but I’ll cheerfully send you a speedy refund. That’s my policy with everything I sell.

GOOD LUCK
