BLUE & WHITE BALUSTER VASE

ITEM DESCRIPTION
A very interesting antique Chinese porcelain baluster vase decorated in an underglaze blue to a white ground. This appears to be a ‘Hong’ or ‘Hang’ vase, showing a guarded entrance to a European shipping station in China which served as trading ports in the early 17th century. Within these ports the Europeans could trade but the gates represent the Chinese shutting out this operation from intrusion to the space beyond. These type of vases are not often found so this is a great chance for the collector to add a rare piece to their collection. Interesting four character mark to base.
ITEM CONDITION
The condition is generally good. Very minor frits to vase rim. The cover has a few small chips to rim.
ITEM DIMENSIONS
The vase and cover stands 29 cm high (approx 11½”).
