From a Connecticut Estate Auction comes this Elegant Antique HAND CHASED OVAL SILVER PLATE BUTLER’S SERVING
GALLERY TRAY by CHELTENHAM & CO.
of SHEFFIELD, ENGLAND.
This lovely tray is wonderfully decorated with floral, foliate, organic and geometric designs and has an undulating 1 3/4†tall pierced gallery edge with a gadroon edge.
Measuring 14 1/2†x 22†with large handles at either end, this is a terrific, very decorative tray.
It’s in excellent used condition with no dents and has a substantial amount of blush showing on the surface, especially around the chased areas.
I also show this with a Cheltenham tea service (the set is silver over nickel while the tray is silver over copper) but this auction is for the tray only, the service offered in my prior auction this evening.
All of my silver has been lightly polished for its photo shoot but can always benefit from additional polishing.
