This item and a lot of the following Black Forest carved items are “new/old” stock from the famous Black Forest carving emporium “Jobin” in Brienz, Switzerland. I was fortunate enough to be allowed into their archives and privileged to purchase some of their antique stock that had never been circulated.
This auction is for this hand carved Black Forest sewing bear. It comes from Brienz, Switzerland from the unsold antique stock of Jobin in Brienz. It has an old sticker on the bottom, “Sculptures Binder Brienz-Luzern”. He also has an old price tag of 1 Swiss Frank – 90 cents. With the name of Binder, this bear dates back to 1890 because this was the original store of Mr. Jobin’s great grand parents. The bear has glass eyes and he holds a thimble and a hiking cane and his backpack is the pin cushion. He is 4″ high, 1 and 3/4″ wide and 2 and 3/4″ deep.

We ship via UPS, unless another carrier is specified. The International shipment quotes listed with the auction are an estimate. It could be more or less depending on the specifics of the shipment. Please note that large, heavy and/or fragile items or antiques will require additional time and cost to pack and ship.
