ANTIQUE 20″ AMERICAN TEDDY BEAR
Looks like he’s just back from the Civil war…he’s in need of some help!
From the late 1908 comes this wonderful, fully loved American teddy bear. He measures approx. 20″ tall and is still stuffed with original straw stuffing which has settled in some places around the neck, at the back hump area, leg and tummy area. He has about 25% of his original medium length tan colored mohair and suffice to say, is primarily bald!
He does have a very sweet face…looks a little unhappy I guess because of all his war injuries. He has his original stick pin brown glass eyes and the area around his eyes is a little faded as if he was wearing sun glasses in the sun; original fabric nose with a little hole in it and appears the mouth stitching was replaced. His ears were reattached and 1 ear was sewn on in the cup style and the other was fanned out.
He is fully jointed and all the joints are in good working condition, despite his age!!! His paw pads have been crudely repaired, stitched just enough to keep the straw from leaking. His feet need help; the left foot has a replacement pad that is almost gone and the right leg lost part of the foot and is now sealed with 2 safety pins to keep the straw from leaking.
As you can see in the pictures, he has some small stains; 2 on the back; 2 on the back of the head; 1 on left arm. He also has a few holes on his left arm.
He will come wearing his antique bandana and with a vintage brass horn that has a red tassled cord attached.
He is far from being perfect, but has a lot of character in his tired, worn appearance and would be the perfect gift for the bear lover in your life…so don’t let him get away because he’s being offered today for a
