Super Parian Bust of
Clytie c1860 – After the Antique.
Clytie a sea nymph was changed into the plant
heliotropium for unrequited of Helios, the sun god.
This lovely Parian
bust of Clytie is 11 inches high and approx. 8 inches across the widest part
(28 cms x 20cms).
The bust is attached to the separate socle
base by a nut and bolt.
Of fine quality with
superb detail, the bust is in with just a couple of very
small minor firing flaws, this apart is without chips, cracks, restoration or
repair.
Although unmarked
the quality would suggest one of the major Staffordshire Potteries of the day,
possibly Copeland, Robinson and Leadbeater or Worcester.
A superb Parian Bust
it displays very well.
