A most attractive Sterling Silver three-lozenge Cigar Case
This case is a deluxe example, as is witnessed by the quality of the work and by the expanding gilt retaining band
The case is finely chased and has the distinction of two of being engraved with two complementary designs:
The outer lozenges are decorated in a fine, trailing foliate scroll, whereas
the central lozenge is decorated with a strong, Ivy Leaf design…
Together, they work very well indeed!
The centre of the case has a vacant Cartouche in the form of a Shield
and opens with ease, the catch having a very positive ‘snap’ to it.
The case is fully Hallmarked for Birmingham and the date-letter is ‘K’, for the year 1909.
The maker’s mark is: WHH, for William Hair Haseler.
