This auction is for an early 1900 antique EDISON phonograph with 4 cylinder recordings, all in excellent working condition, marked on the brass plaque: MANUFACTURED UNDER THE PATENTS OF THOMAS A. EDISON, et als, at ORANGE, N.J., U.S.A. – and showing 24 dates from 1888 to 1903 and a serial number: M159340 – Also marked on the nickel plated REPRODUCER device: MODEL C – LICENSED FOR USE ONLY ON EDISON PHONOGRAPHS – SOLD BY NAT’L. PHONO. CO. – This classic phonograph is fully functional with a flawless and beautiful wooden case and a brass megaphone. There are a few tiny blemishes on the end of the megaphone and a few blemishes on the cast iron device on top but overall everything is in amazingly nice condition. The four cylinders include: LA MARSEILLES, EN ROUTE TO CAMP MARCH, WONDER WHO’S KISSING HER NOW, and BANJO EVANGELIST. All the cardboard cylinder containers are fully legible with a last patent date of 1905 and they are also in very good condition, all made by EDISON LABORATORY and showing his picture. The wooden case measures 16 1/4″ by 9″ and is 12″ tall and weighs 24 lbs. 4 ozs. The brass megaphone is 13 1/2″ long with a 6 3/4″ diameter opening and it weighs approx. 8 ozs.
