This auction is for a beautiful, hard to find red prairie bonnet. All original as found at the farm estate. It is in , no holes or worn areas. No signs of fading. There are 2 black spots noted…one on the front brim and the other on the back crown. These appear to be residue from an iron….not a burn, but something that melted on an iron then was transfered to the cotton bonnet. Wonderful age to it. Exceptionally large front brim to protect the ladies face from the sun while working in the farm fields. This lovely early bonnet measures as follows:
Mid front brim to edge: 12 inches
Mid back neckline over hat cap: 10 inches
Back neckline ribbon tie to ribbon tie: 7 inches
Ribbon tie length: 21 inches each
