Antique Rare American wooden Siam Soo dancing
phonograph doll 12″ (30 cm) height

 She has wooden carved doll head,
torso
and arms, loosely jointed, designed to resemble the dancers of a
Siamese harem, with carved details of costume, head-dress, face,
arranged upon a wooden dowel and attached to a mechanism
designed to
fit an early record. When the phonograph was wound, the doll
“danced”.

The model was patented in 1909 and made by Converse for Columbia
Graphophone Company. Excellent condition with original finish,
only
lower arms replaced and skirt is frail.
