Description: Striking and hightly detailed very large copper engraved chart of Netherlands, including also Belgium, Germany, Luxembourg. Map is filled with a lot of topographical details as well as cities, villages, roads, rivers, islands. Map flanked with a large decorative title cartouche and an inset map of county of Falkenburg. Map from the first Austrian-made complete world atlas.

Condition: Very strong and dark impression on very strong paper. Paper with chains and wiremarks. Original colors. Wide margin to the top. Good lower margin. Wide lateral margins. Small tears to the bottom along centre fold. Small foxing. Small browning. Paper with waterstains. Conditions are as you can see in the image.
Mapmaker: Joseph von Reilly, born in 1766, was was a Viennese art dealer who in his early twenties turned to map publishing, and between 1789 and 1806 produced a total of 830 maps. His Schauplatz…der Welt (World Atlas) in fact covered only maps of Europe, whilst the Grosser Deutscher Atlas also included maps of other continents and was therefore the first World Atlas produced by an Austrian. He died 1820 in Vienna.
