is a carved celadon jade burial pendant of a cicada. It is beautifully carved with repeating lingzhi shapes, a pair of phoenix on one side, and an inscription on the reverse.
Jade cicadas have been highly revered for a long time in China. The cicada, being one of the longest living insects, is a symbol of immortality and protection. It was been used in Chinese tombs dating back to 4000 BC.
