Lot of ANTIQUE Gold Filled Pocket Watch Cases for SCRAP/REPAIR
This Lot Includes: Lot of 8 antique pocket watch cases and one case cover for scrap or parts. Cases measure in range from 44-55mm and all together weigh about 10.1 oz. There is 1 marked platgold, 5 are marked 20 year, 1 is marked 15 year, 1 is marked 10K gold filled and the cover is marked 20 year.
We acquire our estates from jewelers/watchmakers. We are neither jewelers nor watchmakers ourselves, so all descriptions are to the best of our somewhat limited knowledge. We state major flaws when we see them but most items are at least 40+ years old so please expect normal wear and tear, scuffs, light scratches etc.
*WIND UP and AUTOMATIC WATCHES: We have a huge amount of watches and all we have time for is to wind them up ( or shake them in the case of automatics ) and see if they tick or take off. If they do, we put them in a "working" pile and if they don’t, we put them in a non-working pile. We don’t check them for more than the second or two that it takes to hear some ticking or see a second hand move. We get a lot of questions asking " Is this watch in good, accurate running order?"
If you have read the "fine print" here, you will know that we cannot answer that since we dont check them for that. Most watches are old and need some sort of routine maintenance and sometimes a watch may be missing parts that would still allow it to wind up and tick. Again, we aren’t jewelers and don’t know what to look for.We cannot guarantee the watches will stay running or are in good mechanical shape. Most of our buyers receive their watches and they continue to run, occasionally the ticking we checked on wind up was a watches’ last hurrah and they don’t continue to run after they wind back down. We have no way of knowing if that will happen or not but when you bid, please be prepared for that possibility and bid accordingly.
BATTERY or QUARTZ WATCHES: If we say they are working, it means we put in a battery and the watch took off. We don’t know how long a battery will last, so it may be possible that by shipping time, the battery may have died and the watch needs a new one. Again, we aren’t watchmakers, we also don’t know if there might be something else wrong with a watch other than does it take off or not.
UNTESTED: If we say a watch or movement is UNTESTED – it means we have not put a battery in it and don’t know if it will run or not. If it is a wind-up watch or movement, it is probably in a larger lot that has been unsorted and we have not wound it up to see if it ticks or not.
WATCHES ARE SOLD AS IS. We have neither the time nor the knowledge to assess potential problems nor do we have the expertise to verify authenticity in some cases. If these lack of "guarantees" upset you, then please do not bid.
PARTS – The boxes of vintage parts are taken as shown directly from the estate and we cannot guarantee that the parts will correspond to the sizes/numbers shown on the labels. All tools and parts are sold AS IS – they come directly from the estates as they are. We do not have the expertise to know if there are problems with them, so please bid accordingly.
