This Japanese hair pin, or kogai, is probably around 75-100 years old. We’re not quite sure what the gray metal is, but it doesn’t seem to be steel and has no iron-type oxidation, while the ends appear to have been coated by dipping them in molten brass.
This kogai is in basically good condition. There is a pretty fair amount of wear, with some spots of green oxidation at the ends and some very dark-green spots of oxidation on the gray portions, but there is no significant structural damage. The two ends separate from the inner rods easily and stay together well when set.

For all our items, we set the shipping according to the fastest and most economical method. Generally, we set it as Air Mail if the shipping charge will be around fifteen dollars or less, and as SAL (economy airmail) if it would be much over fifteen dollars via regular airmail.
