There are many scans and photos to see here so please allow time for them all to load.
Description can be found under the images.
This auction is for the antique vintage May 1889 issue of the hard-to-find The West Shore, “an illustrated Western magazine”. This issue’s main focus is Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, but there are also articles relating to Oregon and Washington state. There are also some news/info briefs regarding Vancouver, BC, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Idaho and Montana. (See complete table of contents below.) The “Northwestern News and Information” section has usually just one paragraph per subject heading below. if you want to know the length of a particular article or news brief in this magazine before bidding.
This magazine has lovely illustrations (lithographs?) of Vancouver, BC, homes/houses, the harbor and commercial buildings. Published by L. Samuel, Portland, Oregon. Top line across the front cover reads: “Compliments of Ross & Ceperley, Real Estate, Vancouver, B.C.” Softcover, approx 8-1/2″ x 11″. Pages of this issue are numbered 227 to 280, with un-numbered advertisement pages before and after. This is NOT a former library copy.
Please review scans and photos carefully. The front cover is totally detached as you can see and the back cover is partially detached. Covers has rounded, worn, bent corners. Cover edges have some wear and tiny chipping. Cover surfaces have soil, scuffing and scratching plus “not smooth” areas from handling. Paper covering the spine is missing in places. Page corners are rounded and slightly bent, with a few small creased corners. Page surfaces have just occasional “not smooth” areas from page thumbing. Some of the pages have a very faint discoloration around the margin area or light smudges in the same place, but the pages really are in nice shape. NO writing anywhere. NO weird or musty odors.
