Antique RUSSIAN SILVER ENAMEL EGG by Maria Semenova, Moscow c1905
Magnificent circa 1905 Russian silver enameled Easter egg, marked with an MC (Cyrillic for MS), indicating that it was made by master silversmith Maria Semenova, who operated a Moscow silver shop from 1896 to 1917. It does not appear ever to have been cleaned or polished, and I am confident that it would look like the treasure it is. (Also marked with the Moscow 84 mark, indicating its purity of 875.) It’s a gorgeous piece of Russian Imperial art, and it’ll only increase in value. Please check my other auctions for more fine estate items. Condition: Very fine, with no evident damage or wear. Silver is very tarnished, as you can see (it has never been polished, to my knowledge). Some enamel has pindot-size void from bubble, as is common with enameled pieces like this. This would be a stunner polished, but I leave to the buyer whether or not they want to polish it.
Measurements: 1-3/4″ diameter, about 2-1/2″ high. 49.3 grams.
is FREE to U.S. addresses (continental U.S.).
International bidders, please contact me for shipping quote.
I do NOT charge a handling fee. All items professionally packed. via USPS Parcel Post or UPS ground, at my discretion.
The USPS and UPS continue to raise rates, but without exception, I charge my buyers less than my actual packing and shipping costs
(insurance and delivery confirmation costs may be included in shipping). Fla. residents add 7% sales tax unless exempt.
