We
have for your viewing and bidding pleasure an antique cast iron
NOTARY PUBLIC seal stamp. On the brass round front part towards the
bottom it is stamped H. W. WHITE YANKTON, DK. (the DK stands for
Dakota). So, the seal would be from Dakota Territory days when North
and South Dakota were still a Territory and not split into 2 states.
We have used the seal 2 times on a sheet of paper which we have
photographed. It appears to print R HANSON and DAKOTA with the words
NOTARY PUBLIC in the center and some embossed designs in between the
words NOTARY and PUBLIC. The seal is in good condition. It retains
most of its original gold paint and pin stripping. On the base some
of the black paint has deteriorated with some light rusting. The seal
is quite heavy and weighs about 5 ½ lbs.. With the handle sticking
straight up from the bottom of the base it is 10 ¾” high. There
are no breaks or cracks. We are listing this very old antique seal
from the Dakota Territory days at a no reserve selling price.
