This
magnificent
disc style pincushion is silver plated with wonderful Art Nouveau
ladies on each side. Both are dressing with little angels or cherubs
assisting. The
detail is fabulous. The
edge is stamped with the name of the designer “Frainier” and the French
design registration mark “Depose”. Pierre and Alfred Frainier were
father and son with a business in Mortlake, France that specialized in
art nouveau design for watch cases, medals and jewelry. The
cushion
is gold velvet and is original and intact. It was made to
wear on
a chatelaine.
It measures 2
1/2″ high and 2″ wide. There is a small amount of wear to the silver
plate on a few high spots. The
overall condition is excellent though with no
dents, repairs or other damage.
