Old, Antique Majolica Scenic Cottage Scene Art Pottery Pitcher
entire body has a raised design showing and elderly man & woman couple gazing out from inside the green shuttered windows of their stone cottage beds of magenta pink roses "grown" from around base; heavy solid handle has beaded edge design along each side…the man is shown in a kercheif hat wearing a purple suit coat, yellow tie and smoking a pipe…his wife is shown on the opposite side in a purple gown with bonnet tied with pink ribbons under her chin…notice the raised yellow window frames and the herald type design above each window (each has a raised heart with a crown on top)
inside jug is solid glazed deep crimson wine color (the inside also has no indentions or depression holes where the handle is attached on the outside)
jug measures 7.75 inches tall X 7.50 inches wide (from end of handle across to end of spout)
base has incised marking S 3 and 2 black glazed dots; this weighs almost 2 pounds
I was not able to indentify the maker on this…but I would guess this was made in England
