Early Wells, Fargo & Co. Express Crab Padlock with Two Skeleton Keys This is a unique working Wells Fargo & Co. Express heavy crab style padlock. The lock is numbered “16” and so it each of the two skeleton keys. There is a badge shaped tag on one side that is marked:PROPERTY OFWELLS, FARGO & CO.EXPRESSSAN FRANCISCODIVISION The badge has a hole which the skeleton key head goes through the lock and fills the hole. On the other side there is a sliding cast metal strip that covers the main key hole. The metal strip is marked 16 as are the keys. The lock is fully operational, it works well. The keys are 2 5/8” long. The lock 1 1/8” thick and from the bar to bottom it is 3 ¾” tall. There two ears that protect the lock from attack. The opening between the ears and the mouth of the bar are both 5/8”. The locking bar is 3/8” thick. I oiled and tested the lock everything moves smoothly and operates properly.This is a very heavy duty secure lock that would take a very long time to unlock without the correct key.
