Clock

This is a great example of a
Gilbert Kitchen Mantle Clock in beautiful condition. It
was made circa 1900 and

runs great! It has an unusual, striking classic design. It has a signed “Gilbert Clock
Co” 8 day heavy-duty time and strike movement which counts the hours on the hour on
a gong with a sound that is very pleasant. The clock runs beautifully and keeps
very good time. The model is Jewel No. 13.

The movement was just cleaned, oiled, and checked for
proper operation. This clock will not need servicing for many years to come,
so it saves you money right from the start!

It has a very pleasant ticking sound as it runs.
I have included a picture of
the movement so you can see its “inner beauty” and heavy-duty construction! The case
is beautiful! The case is made of solid wood (not veneer) in a beautiful
style with fancy designs on the sides. It must have been made by a
master craftsman by the quality of the construction. The case has no extra
screw holes (showing that this is the original movement, dial, etc.) and
the original screws that are tight! The original signed dial is in great condition
and the numbers are all readable with an antique patina. (See picture) The
brass around the dial is original (also has a nice antique patina). The
hands also look original.

Complete with original pendulum and a brass
key.
The key is not original, but works great. The great thing
I like about this clock is that you can see the brass
pendulum swinging away behind the glass. The glass has a very nice gold reverse
painted design. You can adjust the clock for fast or slow on the bottom of the pendulum
– you don’t have to take the clock down off its shelf to adjust it, just open
the door. The door has its original hinges and catch that work fine. The back
is original with its paper label still attached.

The clock is large
– it measures 23 inches high, 5 inches deep,
and 14 3/4 inches wide. (International
buyers see shipping note below)

The William L. Gilbert Clock Company has a fascinating
history.
It was one of the great
American Clock Companies that operated in Connecticut in the 1800’s and
lasted well into the 1900’s. More information on Gilbert Clocks

This clock is in . It has been lovingly
brought back to its original beauty, while keeping its parts original
except for the front glass which is a correct replacement. Its hard to
believe it is over 111 years old!

This clock will be packed very carefully to insure a safe
delivery and the buyer is to pay only the calculated shipping charges. I
do not add anything for packaging, or handling. I will gladly answer any
questions you have, by e-mail both before you buy, and after, if you need
help setting up the clock.

There is no reserve on this clock, so any bid you make now
could win! Thank you for looking.

Bid with confidence. 14 day money back guarantee
if you are not satisfied with your purchase. We try to describe our
clocks as accurately as we can, and include lots of pictures, (usually 12)
using just about every angle.  We go over our clocks thoroughly, and
if they’re dirty or need overhauling, we clean and overhaul them.  If
you expect an antique clock to look brand new, they usually don’t.
Antiques, if they’ve had normal use, will have age-appropriate wear, which
adds character rather
than detracting.  If there are glaring faults, we do note them in the
description.

We test them out here before shipping and
guarantee they will work for you, but due to shipment trauma, (why do some
UPS and USPS people feel they have to treat packages so roughly?) there
may be some adjustments necessary, which we are glad to help you
with.  We provide help via email or over the phone.  In extreme
cases we ask folks to send the clock back to us to adjust for them and we
return them ASAP at our expense. All we ask is that you do not give us any
negative
ratings until you give us a chance to correct any problems you have
first.

Note to buyers outside the U.S. :
Customs fees, if charged are the responsibility of the buyer. Due to the
large size of this clock, if you are NOT in the U.S., U.K, or Canada,
email me for
shipping charges BEFORE bidding. The cost to ship to some countries is very
high.
