This offering is for an old
vintage Majestic Model # 59 “Studio” Tombstone Radio made by Grigsby Grunow Co.
The radio was made about 1933 and features some of the best art deco styling to
found on vintage tombstone radios a skyscraper case and having a beautiful
aluminum grill. The radio appears to be complete with it’s original machine age
knobs, stylish escutcheon plates and Majestic name tag. However, it does not
currently work and it is missing the wooden back board. The radio tubes light up and
there is a constant hum when it’s turned on but no static or channel reception. The
case features two tone veneers and a classic stepped design roof in very nice
condition. There are no cracks, breaks or repairs and other than the missing back is
in very very nice condition. There are a couple of small pieces of missing veneer and
typical light wear to the black painted surfaces but nothing of a really distracting
nature. In short the radio needs a bit of attention to get it working but it should not
pose to much effort to set it right. The radio displays beautifully as it sits currently but
a little proper restoration to the case will make it a real showpiece. This great old
vintage Majestic Tombstone Radio will make an excellent addition to someone’s
