This is a Beautiful Lever Set/Stem wind pocket watch! I checked the time on this watch with the clock on my computer, and it is right on! It has not gained or lost a full minute in 24 hours! You really have to see this watch!!
This “BEAUTIFUL” Movement reads, HAMILTON WATCH CO., U.S.A. 992B, 21 JEWELS, ADJ. TEMP AND 6 POSITIONS. Serial number C217784 = 1948 production date. The Jewels are set in gold cups, As you can see in the pictures this is a beautiful movement!! This movement has been completely serviced, and I was very careful NOT to put any marks on the movement. Also the case has been cleaned and polished inside and out, so you don’t have to worry about the added expense of having any of this done if you are the lucky winner of this Beautiful Railroad Grade Pocket Watch!
The Dial is a beautiful White melamine double sunk “Railway Special Dial. It has the beautiful Steel BlackHands, and second hand. The dial reads HAMILTON “RAILWAY SPECIAL”The front and back covers screw on and off nicely, very smooth! This Dial has also been cleaned, back and front, before being put back on the watch.
The Beautiful Hamilton Wadsworth #2 BOC = Bar over Crown, case reads, WADSWORTH 10 K GOLD FILLED, PAT. 5-22-26, #0076607 = early 1948 production date also, and another “harder” to find Wadsworth case with the 00 prefix, Note the note below. Take a close look at this beautiful case!!This case has all matching numbers. The glass crystal is NEW. The Bow is nice and tight. The covers screw on and off so easy, like SILK! It does have A COUPLE of the normal dings or scratches that a watch will get while being worn working on the railroad. All in all this is just one of the more BEAUTUIFUL 10K gold filled Railroad Pocket Watches, and a BEAUTIFUL addition to any fine watch collection.
It is important to recognize on these Wadsworth cases that, between the end of H-prefixes and beginning of J-prefixes during 1948 there were a series of 00-prefix numbers. Of course this often causes confusion but fortunately they had dropped the patent dates by this time so knowing that we can easily distinguish these cases from previous ones. These 00-prefix numbers run to around 0077500 or so, then it appears the first 0 was replaced with a “J” with J-prefix numbers taking over at around J080000 and continue through the end of Wadsworth production
So as you can see there were not that many of these #2 Wadsworth cases with the 00 prefix numbers produced. I just wonder how many of them are left to see.
I am adding a link, written by Lindell V. Riddle, President and Founder of “IHC185”, on the Wadsworth case. This is a MUST read for all Wadsworth case lovers! It will also explain this #10 Wadsworth case for you. Enjoy!
