VINTAGE ANTIQUE PRE 1930’S REFINISHED 7.8’ SPLIT BAMBOO FLY FISHING ROD
This auction is for a vintage refinished three piece 7.8’ pre 1930’s split bamboo fly rod. There are no manufacturer identifications. The bottom section measures 37”, mid is 28 ½” and the tip is 28”. I believe the mid and tip may have originally been 37”. I would estimate the fly line weight a five.
The five inch cork handle is fully functional. The four inch sliding ring reel seat would indicate the rod was made pre 1930’s.There are three snake eye guides on the mid and tip sections and the stripper guide is agate with a red insert. All of the wraps and guides are solidly tied. The rod fits together perfectly when assembled and has the distinct pop sound when removed. There is a natural set in the tip section which will not affect its casting ability. I meticulously stripped the old varnish, refinished with marine spar varnish and completed it with high quality wood rubbing compounds. The ferrules and reel seat have been buffed and polished. The light brownstone colored bamboo cane and varnish finish are beautiful. This rod would be a great choice for brushy creek and stream conditions. BID WITH CONFIDENCE!
