This antique vintage swiveling VERY heavy duty wall hung, ornate cast iron bracket and heavy circular oak seat are in . Markings cast in the metal are: AT J LY 98. I am unsure of exactly what use or original location of this excellent piece. Conjecture includes Trolley or Street Car seat, perhaps a train engineer’s seat, or ?? It swivels side to side smoothly. It could be attached to a wall to create a stool or extra chair that can swing “out of the way” in tight quarters.
All photos are of the exact item being offered. Photos 1 and 2 show the item laying flat on the floor, swung first one direction, then the other, so you can see both sides. Photo 3 is a closer shot of the decoration and condition of the bracket. Photo 4 shows part of the swiveling hinge and mounting with some maker’s marks. Photo 5 is taken from the angle showing where the seat would be attached; showing two very sturdy plates which the seat (and perhaps a seat back, BUT NO back is included) would be bolted on. Photo 6 shows approximately how the seat would look on the bracket. Photos 8-9 show bottom and top of substantial wooded seat.
The bracket itself measures 18 1/2 inches long from bracket to end of metal “arm”. It also measures 11 3/4 inches long top to bottom of wall mount side. The hinge measures 2 inches wide. The wooden seat is 14 1/2 inches diameter and 1 3/4 inches thick and is heavy and very solid.
