This vintage swiveling and extending wall hung bracket or curtain rod is in . All photos are of the exact item being offered. Photo 4 shows the swiveling hinge mounted on a 10″ x 3″ wooden block. Photos 1 and 2 show the item laying flat on the floor, swung first one direction, then the other, so you can see both sides. The bracket measures 35 inches long as it sits in Photos 1-2. Photo 3 shows the extending outer end and bar, whose tab (on far left of item) will slide out of the arm casing and extends the length of the hangar to 53 1/2 inches.
This bar may have once been used in the 1800’s and early 1900’s to hang a woven room divider or curtain across a doorway and extends to a distance which would cover a double French doorway. The bracket is pretty sturdy and would hold a woven curtain and MIGHT hold something like a hanging lamp or a plant. It DEFINITELY would support a flag, lightweight sign or fabric banner.
