, one very rare box with instruction manual for the Hi-Standard Military H-D automatic pistol. Make no mistake, this is a very early box. One end is marked “HI-STANDARD” the the serial number “278230” and “H-D MILITARY 6 3/4″ BARREL”. The hinge is still secure. There is some tape residue on the top lid and on each end of the top lid, but it is not very noticeable. The box is worn on the edges, corners and seams, but it survived! The instructions are in good condition with one small slit at the seam about 1″ at the top. I can find no date code on either side of this printed manual. The pistol in the parts diagram shows a close up of the frame. On that frame you can clearly read the following:
“MADE IN USA”
“THE HIGH STANDARD MFG CO”
“NEW HAVEN, CONN”
“PATENT PENDING”
“.22 CAL”
“LONG RIFLE”
Based on the fact that frame in this picture was stamped “PATENT PENDING”, we can surmise that this printing is very early. Probably first or second year production?
I will post any information that comes along.
