Vintage / Antique Chinese ink-stone Brass or Bronze and internal Copper Writing/Calligraphy Box.
Not sure of age. Probably late 1800’s or early 1900’s

3 1/8″ square box / 1 1/8″ Tall
Red wax seal on top (see pic #4)
Chinese identifying mark on bottom (see pic #3)
The top of this box fits perfectly in any direction, snug and tight
On inside of the top is the black ink stone. These tightly-fit boxes were used by scholars when they traveled so they could paint and do calligraphy. Cotton was placed in the bottom of the box and water was dripped into it.
Very little use. Ink-stone shows signs of a few rubbings, but no ink detected in copper bottom
