Beautiful old Victorian box I was told to hold vanity items and jewelry, the inside of the lid looks like it once held a mirror and brush, not sure what else just jewelry and other items. I think it is celluloid? thats what I was told so will be sold as is not knowing for positive. This came from a Dallas estate with a large Victorian collection. This box has the key, but the lock does turn and the latch moves but does not lock very tight but I did not want to mess with it, cause I would not know exactly what to do. Has beautiful deatil in the flowers and designs, has some chips of the celluloid to two of the corners. All of the bottom corners have metal tips to match the key hole frame. The inside has some of the gold material has been removed. ALl in all it will make a great addition to your collection or decor. I think that it can use a good cleaning but I will leave this tot the new owner.
