Description A really superb antique English solid sterling silver key-less lever pocket watch in lovely clean condition and in full working order and complete with a fine antique solid silver albert chain with attached Victorian shilling. Beautiful quality full-sized example, the movement is stamped “Buren” “15 Jewels”, “Swiss Made”, it is an excellent timekeeper and runs the full length of the spring. Has an unblemished white enamel dial with black roman numerals and a subsiduary seconds hand and is protected by a real glass cover, (not just perspex). There are no engraved inscriptions, monograms or crests.
Measurements The watch measures 2 inches (51mm) in diameter and is 0.6inches (15mm) deep.
The albert chain measures 12.25 inches (310mm) in length with a further 1.5 inches (38mm) on the short fob chain. The attached coin is a genuine Victorian Golden Jubilee shilling dated 1887.
Weight Approx 127 grams including movement.
Date The watch is solid sterling silver and has full English silver import hallmarks for London 1920 (date letter “e”) and is stamped in 4 separate places. Silversmith is William Henry Sparrow, (W.H.S).
The albert chain is silver hallmarked for Birmingham 1888, (date letter “o”), on the t-bar, and every chain link also has a clear lion passent sterling silver stamp.
Condition Superb clean condition and ready to be used. No splits or cracks on the watch, no solder repairs and no nasty knocks or dents either, a really lovely example and it was only serviced a year or so, with no reported problems. The enamel dial is mint and the glass cover is undamaged. The silver albert is also in excellent clean condition, there is no wear on the links and the swivel catch works fine and has a good strong spring. The Victorian silver shilling is original and still has very good definition. A wonderful set and ready to go.
