A quick word about postal times, feedback and satisfaction. As
a seller I’m proud of the items and service I offer, go to great
lengths to photograph and describe everything comprehensively, and I
always try to ensure my buyers are satisfied.
However,
lower volume sellers, such as myself, lose a large chunk of percentage
for one negative, while higher volume sellers will lose much less. In my
case, I’ve suffered two negatives in the last 12 months – one a sincere
misunderstanding which I tried my heart out to resolve (and did, but that didn’t stop the bad feedback), the other not
so sincere in my humble opinion (demanding a partial refund in exchange
for good feedback even though I offered a full refund if the item was
returned). Please read the detailed feedback comments if the percentage
figure concerns you.
Please
note I offer a full refund including the original postage if anything is
not as described. HOWEVER I NEVER ACCEPT PROPOSALS FOR PARTIAL REFUNDS –
this is unfortunate but in recent months I have had several requests for partial refunds that I am certain are not sincere and just based on the threat of leaving bad feedback if I didn’t comply (see above).
apparently has no interest in backing sellers in these situations so I
am stating clearly in advance that I will not play this game regardless
of the resultant feedback. In my opinion a full refund including
original postage is perfectly fair if a buyer has any good reason not to
be satisfied – only bid if you agree.
Here we have a gorgeous Rotherhams English key-wind Sterling Silver hunter case pocket watch hallmarked 1885. It’s in superb original condition, has been recently serviced and runs perfectly.
The 50mm diameter hunter case is English Sterling Silver London hallmarked 1885 with Rotherhams makers mark. It’s in excellent original condition with very light wear on the original, still crisp decorated surface finishes and all hinges and clips working as they should. The front cover locks and opens as it should via the button on the crown. Vacant cartouche and only the tiniest surface dents and marks anywhere on the outside and a few more light scratches inside. Lovely original case looking very crisp for its age. Photos show it faithfully.
The enamel dial is in mint condition with no marks, discolouration or damge and an excellent surface finish. Hands are also excellent. Please note that the crystal sometimes pops out when you open the inner bezel to change the time (time adjusts using the winding key on the centre pinion of the hands). It’s press-fitted in so it may need cement or a slightly larger diameter crystal. It doesn’t pop out in normal use so it’s just a matter of being careful when you adjust the time.
The movement looks pretty much as clean and fresh as new with no visible dirt, damage or corrosion. I had this movement serviced a year or so ago by a top watchmaker and it’s only been run occasionally since. Winds and sets perfectly, runs reliably and keeps good time.
A beautiful watch from a very well-regarded maker in superb original condition, runs perfectly and ready to use or add to your collection.

Preferred payment is PayPal for international buyers, or PayPal or bank deposit for local buyers (equal preference). You can proceed to the checkout straight away as all postage costs are set up on the system, and I will send you an invoice within 24 hours if payment isn’t made at the end of the auction which will include insurance options for items over $100. within 2 days if there is going to be any delay in payment. Payment is expected within 7 days of the end of the auction.
POSTAGE
Standard
freight for watches is $10 Registered Post in Australia and $20.00
Registered Post International or Insured Air Mail for all overseas
destinations – both include up to $100 insurance. Larger items may have
higher postage costs which will be shown in the postage rates in the
description. I’m usually selling a number of
watches so please view my other items. I do combine postage,
usually at no extra cost unless extra insurance is required or the
weight or size of the package increase the postage costs.
