*LOW RESERVE*

This listing is for an early, rare long faced German Kestner doll. This doll is very unique and not a common Kestner doll. She was made during the transitional period, when German doll companies were trying the new innovation of manufacturing dolls by cutting mouth openings and adding teeth. It was much more expensive to make open mouthed dolls. There were more steps, and it cost more money to add these extra luxuries on.

This Lovely little 14″ cabinet sized doll has a very high quality long, red curly mohair wig. She has a delightful little overbite and her mouth is barely open with square cut teeth carved in her head. Her teeth were not inserted like other dolls of later decades. She has blue glass fixed eyes, thick multi stroke eyebrows, hand painted upper and lower eyelashes and a cute little dimple on her chin.

She is so precious and has the most darling face!

Her original jointed body is an early straight wristed body made out of wood and composition. Her stringing could use a little tightening up, but she is fine as is when on a stand (not included).

Her head has no markings or mold numbers. This predates this doll to before 1891, when the country of origin laws were enacted.

She is wearing a gorgeous antique ensemble! Her attire consists of an antique white cotton dress. Her outfit closes in back with hook and eye closures. I made her a pretty straw bonnet with lace, silk flowers and topped it off with an ostrich feather plume. Underneath her dress she is wearing layers and layers of antique original white cotton slips and pantaloons. She is wearing vintage socks and shoes (one is missing a bow).

As with any item over 100 years old, she has some flaws that are to be expected. Her head has no hairlines. She has a paint rub on both eyebrows and the tip of her nose, a tiny dot of missing paint on her right cheek and her eyes were set to a fixed position by a former owner.

In the crease of her eyelids there is what appears to be slight discoloration from remnants of old glue or some kind of adhesive. I haven’t tried to wash it off and will leave that up to her new owner. I do not know if it will come off. Her body is fair/good and has normal age related wear to the finish, chipping, a few putty repairs and some repaint.

This beautiful Kestner doll would make a wonderful addition to your collection. This particular face is very unique and not often found. She is not your typical dolly face doll and has much more character.

Please adopt her today. She is looking for a new mommy or daddy to love her. She would also like to go to a home with lots of brothers and sisters.
