website THIS BADGE IS OVER 100 YEARS OLD AND HAS NOT BEEN USED BY ANY AGENCY SINCE THAT TIME, IT HOLDS NO POLICE POWERS.
Here is a seldom antique and original encountered badge. It 2 1/2 inches tall. It is made of die stamped brass that was nickle plated. It has hand stamped titles with blacking in the letters. The pin on the back is a safety pin type with a saddle plate. It was made by the L.A. Stamp and Sty Co of L.A. CAL and this is stamped in the saddle plate . The badge along the edge on the back is stamped in raised letters L.A. Rubber Stamp Co. The pin show wear and the nickle has worn off much of it. The plating has worn off of the tips of the Eagle. The edge of the badge shows the typical sirations that found on badges that are cut from a blank during the die stamping process and is what you want to see on an original badge. IT IS NOT CAST LIKE THOSE FAKES MADE BY LAGENBACKER OR WALTER KUHN). The badge dates to just after 1910 when the Bureau of Mines was created. The first LEO officers of this division of the Government were known as Rangers and were respouncible for inspecting Mines for safe working condition. This piece surfaced in Colorado years ago and has resided in my Collection for a number of years. In Colorado the Bureau of Mines has a special rescue train car that could be hauled to any part of the state in case of mine recue or disaster. Colorado of course during this time had a very turbulent history pitching the Colorado Fuel & Iron along with the Colorado National Guard against strinking miners with the Federal Government caught in between. This is a very historic badge. As with all my police badges, this came from my collection. I gurantee it as original for life. For any reason if you find that you want to return it, I will refund your money. Its hard to part with however a major Colorado presentation piece is coming down the line and I need to make space. Thanks for looking!
