Here we have a seldom seen 1941 Philco model 41-225. Philco produced 12 different models of wood table radios in 1941. This was one of the least manufactured out of all of them, with less than 13,000 made. Thus you don’t come across this beauty very often. It features a stunning Art Deco designed walnut cabinet, elegant inlays, electronic pushbutton tuning, attractive dial, loop antenna, and outstanding performance.

Cabinet: The Art Deco designed walnut cabinet is simply gorgeous. A unique, yet attractive design, featuring rounded sides that lead into an inset grill and dial. Beautiful wood grain flows throughout the entire set with eye catching inlays running across the front and sides. The brass escutcheon, housing all the original station call letters, contributes to the wow factor. The gold Philco logo, dark walnut trim, and a unique grooved base finish this rare beauty off perfectly. A definite ‘head turner’ no matter which room in the home or office you display it in.

The Cabinet’s Finish: All of our radio cabinets undergo a vigorous restoration process. Our goal is to maintain the natural beauty of the wood and grain, while providing a deep luster and shine. We achieve this by using a minimum 12 coats of Mohawk brand lacquers and toners. We use a nitrocellulose piano lacquer which is applied through a professional HVLP turbine spray system in a climate controlled room. Nitrocellulose lacquer is very thin. We also apply very thin coats. This allows the lacquer to seep into the grain and not cover it up. A 1000, 2000, & 4000 grit wet sanding follows every third coat. The cabinet is finished off with a three step polishing process ending with an Oz glaze rub. During the restoration on this set, a scuff mark on the top left of the cabinet and a few minor scratches on the sides were filled and/or blended. Nothing that detracts from the beauty of the set. Many hours of work are put into these radios, but as you can see, the final outcome is a beautiful, natural looking cabinet with gorgeous luster & shine. Our radios are a great piece of history that come to you ready to proudly display, as well as listen to, in any room of the home or office.

Dial/Knobs: The attractive ivory and maroon dial is a real attention getter. It is illuminated by a new dial lamp and lights nice and bright. All letters and numbers indicating station frequencies are legible and show little signs of wear. The pushbuttons are in great shape and fully functional. All three knobs are in and work as follows: volume, band switch, and tuning. The on/off switch is the first pushbutton.

Electronics/Chassis:The 6 tube chassis has been electronically restored and plays great. All caps, filters, and resistors have been checked and replaced as needed. All tubes have been tested and brittle wires replaced. The chassis has been cleaned, lubed and re-aligned for optimal performance. I‘m able to pick up many stations across the dial with plenty of volume and nice tone on the AM broadcast band. I will include a 30 day warranty on the tubes, caps and filters.
