LG Antique FRENCH Victorian COUSTOU Sculpture MARLY HORSE & GROOMER Old STATUE

This is a Very Large & Impressive Piece that looks to date to the late 19th Century to the very early Turn of the Century. This Victorian era Cast Spelter Statue is directly copied from the Enormous marble sculpture that stands on display outside the Parisian Louvre. This piece was originally sculpted by by Guillaume Coustou who lived from 1677 – 1746.

This is a Very Well Cast Piece with an aged Bronze patina over cast Spelter metal. The Sculpture itself is in Excellent Structural Condition and would be a Fabulous addition to any Collection & it would make a Remarkable Focal point in just about any era home.

This piece is lacking the Wooden Base which is commonly found on similar Victorian era Statues that we have sold in the past. This piece was found in a Richmond, Virginia Estate along with another Coustou Marly Horse Statue which we have also listed tonight. These pieces have only been cleaned with a damp cloth & are Estate Fresh!

This is almost a Mirror Image of the other Coustou Statue Listed & they would look Very Impressive as a Pair although they are Large & Impressive enough to stand alone and Command attention in any Castle or Cottage. This Piece would be Ideal on a Fireplace Mantle!

There is light wear to the finish that displays like a nicely aged statue. I just noticed that the horse’s front left leg has been repaired but it looks great and it is very hard to tell and there is a solid stress fracture near the base of the tail. This piece is in Excellent Antique Condition & is Ready for a Spot in your Personal Art Gallery.
