is a striking, Large Antique
Japanese Vase.
Featuring beautifully-rendered
gardens, vivid colors, and people socializing in period garb. The primary colors are cobalt, bright red or
crimson, and burnt orange.
This vase measures 26″ in height
and 11.5″ in diameter. A
Large and Impressive work of art.
Estimate range: $1,500-3,000
Showing its age well, the vase shows age-appropriate pitting and very little fading or
wear. It is one of the finest displays of Japanese skill and prowess in
the medium of porcelain I have seen to date. I believe this vase would date to the middle to late 19thth
century based on the detail, coloration, pitting and style, but please make your own assessments of age and value and bid accordingly.
There are a few nicks to the delicate
fluting around the top rim as pictured, but these are not very noticeable and
might well be expected on a work of this age, as delicate and large as it
is. Except for the few noted chips to the bottom of the upper rim, the
vase is in fine, original condition — with no chips, cracks, or repairs.
I doubt pieces of this size, age, quality and condition come up for auction
very often, and probably even more rarely are offered without reserve!
This vase displays beautifully and always draws attention. It is a Fine
and Impressive piece to add to your collection.
