Illinois Watch Company, Springfield, Illinois Pocket Watch – 1882
This is an 18 size 15 jewel Model 1 Illinois watch. It’s a stem wind and lever set watch which was probably an early conversion from key wind and set. The movement is in very good condition and it keeps good time. The silver hunter case is marked Newport Coin. The case is worn smooth but retains some of the original design. The case is lumpy front and back from numerous small dents, and there are some scratches on the dust cover. The single sunk dial is in very good condition except a crack across the bottom of the sub seconds dial. The heavy silver case is 2.20in (55.9mm) in diameter. Nice 130 year old watch in good running condition.
