This is a very nice antique solid sterling silver souvenir spoon from Idaho Springs, Colorado, probably from about 1910 or so. Idaho Springs is a small town in Clear Creek County, not too far from Denver. It has a rich mining history.
It is about 5-1/4″ long, weight below.
The bowl is hand-engraved with “Idaho Springs, Colo.”
It has a really great detailed figural Native American Indian handle, front and back.
No engraving, other than the bowl.
It is marked with the word “Sterling” on the back of the handle, along with the old kachina doll type hallmark for Tammen, a Denver company that made many souvenirs with Western United States themes.
Condition: Very good. It has a little light surface scratching on the back only, and may have a bit of surface tarnish here and there. It has a slight indentation where the bowl meets the handle, but this sometimes happened when the spoon was braced for engraving. I don’t think it is a flaw, but I did want to mention it.
Weight: It weighs about 14.8 grams or .52 ounce (.47 Troy oz.) on my digital point scale.
