This is such a Fabulous Rare Find. It is a French Antique Bridal Wedding Display Stand that dates from the turn of the century. These were very popular in the Napoleon III Period and are now so hard to find. This is the best French bridal cushion I have ever seen, and I hope I don’t regret selling it. It is an older piece of excellent quality. It is a little heavy weighing about 4 pounds and such a nice larger size. The bridal cushion or pillow is a deep cranberry or burgundy velvet fabric. It is exquisitely decorated with the most gorgeous gold trim all around, which feels like it is mostly wire or metal trim. From the four corners are the tassels which are spring wire or metal coils. Sitting on top is the wedding crown that is wax. It is breathtaking and full. This is an older wedding crown and is a nice aged creamy white now. It has the wire band that is thread wrapped. There is some wax missing, and probably a few flower buds and leaves missing. It is still pinned and tucked to the cushion. Also pinned to the cushion is the grooms boutineer. It sits on a little wood pedestal with a tin decoration of hands. I don’t think the pedestal stand is original and is not as old and was used to display the bridal cushion. What an amazing piece to add to your Bridal collection, or set off as a focal point in a cabinet in your home. Great in any shabby chic, Victorian, Antique, romantic cottage or French country home.
Measurements are about 9″ tall on the pedestal. The pillow itself with the bridal crown is about 8″ by 8″ and 4 1/2″ tall. It weighs about 4 pounds.
